Who Founded/Developed It: It was identified, selected, and cultivated by local farmers in Oddanchatram—a major agricultural hub in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu, India. The name "ODC" is an abbreviation of Oddanchatram.
Because it is a traditional farmers' variety that evolved naturally through generations of selective breeding for high yield and quality.
Features:
1. The fruits are fleshy and tasty.
2. It comes to flowering within 4 months of sowing and comes to harvest in 6 months.
3. The plants grow to a height of 6 – 10 feet in a year
4. The pods are 1 feet to 2.5 feet long with a girth of 2.5 inch
